Leo Joseph Mann was born on November 26, 1924, in Prescott, Nevada County, Arkansas. He was the older twin brother to Lonnie Edward Mann, who was born a day later, on November 27. Leo Mann was one of 5 children born to Lonnie J. Mann and Leola (Edwards) Mann.
Leo Mann joined the Army during World War II, and eventually attained the rank of Sergeant. Four days after his 20th birthday, SGT Mann was killed while serving in France, but his body was never returned.
