Program for 9th - 12th grade students to record a short speech based on a topic chosen by VFW commander-in-chief.
Local winners receive a $50, $75, and $100 savings bond, and the chance to compete at district. District winners receive a $50, $75, $100 savings bond and the chance to compete at state.
First place winner at state receives a $2,000 saving bond + $1,000 Freedom Foundation enrollment for the trip to compete at nationals in Washington, D.C. Second and third place winners at state receive $1,500 and $1,000 savings bonds, respectively. Students who make it to nationals compete for a grand prize of a $30,000 scholarship, as well as other prizes ranging from $1,000 to $16,000.
